Handmade fluorescent typographic posters are the distinct features of a Chicha posters. The first Chincha poster originated from a workshop established in Lima, Peru around the 1960′s to promote Cumbia and Chicha music. The designs are highly inspired by the colours of embroideries, handicrafts from the central Andean region of Peru.
Each letter on the poster is cut out and attached directly onto the screen to make a stencil. Using this traditional process requires no chemicals and no photographic processes. The paper clogs the mesh of the screen stoping the colour to go through it.
